Daron Russell vs. DeWayne Russell - Which Russell Would Win?

After covering both Russell brothers several times on this Runnin Rhody blog, one has to wonder who would win in a friendly but competitive game of 21. I am sure that Daron Russell and DeWayne Russell played one another several times throughout their childhood and teenage years but past history will not play a role in this hypothetical scenario.

Taking my full bias out of this contest, I will say from the start that I would have to edge this one out to DeWayne Russell, the elder brother. Experience would play a valuable part in this matchup and I am sure that the point guard from Grand Canyon University knows his brother's tendencies and how to push his buttons. Also, I can bet that Dan Majerle's favorite player has picked up more than a few tricks in the four seasons of college basketball that he spent at two different colleges.

As a Rhode Island basketball fan, I would obviously root for Daron "Fatts" Russell in this game and I think he would still stand a great chance of pulling out the victory. In his own right, there is a high probability that "Fatts" has picked up many more skills since his teenage years. Playing for one of the best high school basketball programs in the country, Imhotep Institute Charter High School, Daron Russell has caught the attention of everyone in Pennsyalvania and beyond.

Between the two brothers, it is hilarious to me that I do not think either one has an advantage in foot speed or shooting. The difference would likely be made on whichever player utilizes better defense and in that case, I think that DeWayne Russell would separate himself because of his valuable experience as a college basketball player.

As most people would know, you want to be better than your sibling, especially when it comes to mastering the same sport. Be sure to let me know on Twitter or on the forum of this website who you think would win. And who knows, maybe DeWayne Russell will pay a visit to the Ryan Center next season and go one-on-one with his younger brother, Daron Russell. If this ever does happen, I hope that we are all there to witness it.

The big question remains, which Russell brother would be left smiling after this matchup?

About a URI Attendee

Hi, I attend URI basketball games religiously. I am also a pessimist. These 2 facts do not always mix cohesively. Read my articles to see why.
