Houston, This is One Step for URI's Men, One Giant Leap for Moe's Southwest Grill
The only students who attended URI's game against the promising Houston Cougars (after URI's heartbreaking loss to PC three nights prior) went because of free Dunkin Donuts gift cards that each probably had a penny on them and of course, a nice, hot, and free burrito from Moe's. Well, I mean the burritos were definitely free and they were nice and hot .... 3 hours before everyone arrived for the 7 pm tip-off. So the loyal student fan base that strolled into the Ryan Center came in thrilled with their penny DD gift cards and cold burritos that were supposed to be their dinner. I have no idea if he had a free hot or cold burrito but one of URI's most well-known students, Anthony DeAngelis was in attendance for what was supposed to be a good game. With the famous Pharmacy major in the building, it was time for the Rams to perform.
At least URI got back to winning by getting back to basics and performing well in all of the fundamental facets of the game versus the Cougars. In order to secure their 67-57 win and get to 6-3, the Rhode Island Rams shared the ball effectively and unselfishly, ultimately ending with 4 double digit scorers.
Ironically, Moe's gained an immense amount of popularity shortly after this game thanks to Chipotle getting 140 Boston College students sick, giving URI students free cold burritos, and the Houston Cougars, who were led by Rob Gray Jr.'s 11 points.
If you cannot tell, everyone in the Ryan Center learned to love Moe's within the night and so did Rob Gray:
