The 2017-2018 Atlantic 10 MBB Pretenders
These are the Atlantic 10 MBB teams that will not realistically compete for the regular season conference title or the Atlantic 10 championship in the Verizon Center:
UMASS - Matt McCall is a young, hungry head coach that took on a job with one of the most talented teams in the conference, from top to bottom. Since his hiring, McCall has had several significant losses in the offseason, including DeJon Jarreau, Brison Gresham, Seth Berger, Zach Coleman, Zach Lewis, and Donte Clark.
George Washington - Maurice Joseph looks bound for a sophomore slump while taking the helm in Foggy Bottom. Without Tyler Cavanaugh, Jaren Sina and Kevin Marfo, Yuta Watanabe was already going to have to carry his team to wins. Since then, they lost promising guard, Jordan Roland and Collin Goss.
George Mason - The George Mason Patriots lose all-Atlantic 10 talent Marquise Moore and their significant post presence in Jalen Jenkins. Dave Paulsen will need to build off of the talent of Otis Livingston II and Jaire Grayer.
Duquesne - Keith Dambrot is a great coach who worked with LeBron James but he has a long rebuilding process and he lost Isaiah Mike.
Fordham - Jeff Neubauer's team is looking like they will struggle mightily without the services of Antwoine Anderson and Chris Sengfelder. Joseph Chartouny is Fordham's last shining bright spot.
