What Rhode Island MBB will Miss About Kuran Iverson
With the conclusion of the 2016-2017 season and the conclusion of Kuran Iverson's collegiate career, it is time to evaluate what Rhode Island MBB will miss about him, both on and off the basketball court.
1. Brotherhood - Kuran Iverson may have transferred in after troubles at Memphis but he quickly because "one of the guys".
2. Intensity - It is hard to argue that Dan Hurley had a more intense player in the past two seasons besides Kuran Iverson. The only other player that could contend him with for that label is fellow senior, Hassan Martin (who I am also writing a similar article about). It did not matter if his team was playing Holy Cross or a powerhouse team, Iverson brought the intensity.
3. Interior defense - There are multiple skills and characteristics that are discussed when it comes to the Hartford native but his post defense is often underrated. After a rough go with defense in Dan Hurley's defensive system at the beginning of his (redshirt) junior season, Iverson became a capable defender.
4. Athleticism - At roughly 6'10, Kuran Iverson is a NBA prospect because of his athleticism in the front court. Transitioning into the NBA, Iverson can easily slip into being a wing player because of his ability to dribble the ball and drive like a guard. Coach Hurley will miss having an adept ball-handler on the court that is not a guard.
5. Dunks - Kuran Iverson was a human highlight reel with a Rhode Island jersey on. I don't know about everyone else but I will never forget Iverson dunking on #42 from Holy Cross and then staring him down for a good 30 seconds.
