NBA Draft 2017 - If I Was Danny Ainge
My original thought from 5/23/17: Make the ballsy move of trading the #1 overall pick for a future pick and trade down to #3 overall to grab a coveted and lethal scorer in Jayson Tatum. If Isaiah Thomas is truly in the plans for the future, he and Markelle Fultz would not work well together. IT and Fultz are both ball dominant players. Danny Ainge has the expertise to know that adding picks for the future is always advisable and Tatum would fit Brad Stevens' system very well. There may be no Paul George or Jimmy Butler on the way to the TD Garden but adding Jayson Tatum would be a solid move.
Update after the Celtics trade with the 76ers: Barring a great trade proposal, keep the #3 pick and take Josh Jackson or Jayson Tatum. Do not even consider anyone else at this point. Between the two forwards, it is all about preference at this point. In my eyes, Tatum is a better all-around scorer because of his shooting ability. At the same time, Jackson is a solid two-way player. Overall, either player would be a good selection, but I say... DRAFT JAYSON TATUM!
