Should Jared Terrell Be Drafted?
After Jared Terrell's lackluster performances in the 2018 Atlantic 10 tournament and the 2018 NCAA tournament, it looked like all hope was lost. Luckily, Terrell proved his worth when his full arsenal on display in the 2018 Portsmouth Invitational, in front of several NBA scouts. While competing for K&D Round's Landscaping, he scored 13 points (6-10 FG), grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out three assists in his team's first round victory. On the following night, the Weymouth native had 18 points (5-12 FG and 6-6 FT), four rebounds, three assists, one block, and two steals. Lastly, in the championship game (that his team lost on a buzzer-beater), Jared Terrell scored 13 points (6-11 FG), grabbed one rebound, assisted one basket, and caused one steal.
During this tournament, the wing did not exemplify the greatest display of perimeter shooting, as he went 4-12 from outside, between the three games. As a result, he was left off of the all-tournament team. With that said, after his admirable performance at the 2018 PIT, Jared Terrell was chosen as one of nine "Portsmouth stars who could be NBA sleepers", by Sports Illustrated.
As predicted, Jared Terrell was not one of the 69 invitees to the 2018 NBA Combine. In fact, only one player from the Atlantic 10 was invited and it was Kostas Antetokounmpo, Dayton's talented freshman. Although they did not list him as one of their participants, Terrell put in solid work at the pro basketball combine at IMG academy. On day 2 of the combine, he recorded the fastest shuttle time of 2.93 seconds. The highlights of his time at the 2018 pro basketball combine can be seen here.
As a result of his work, Terrell has had workouts with the Boston Celtics, the Brooklyn Nets, the Atlanta Hawks, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Sacramento Kings, the Detroit Pistons, and the Toronto Raptors. For a considerable amount of NBA teams, they could use a player with the repertoire of Jared Terrell.
