Reacting to Rhode Island MBB's First Round Postgame Press Conference

Following URI's 83-78 overtime victory over Oklahoma, they had their first and hopefully not their last elated postgame press conference of the 2018 NCAA tournament. The entire press conference is included in this article and it has been uploaded to the "Everything in Between" page on the website.

Rhode Island MBB's press conference:

The Rhode Island players were relatively businesslike in their responses to the questions that they were asked after their dramatic victory and anyone can respect that. Starting off, Cyril Langevine talked about his understanding of how important his final four free throws were and how that helped him to convert all of them. At the 8:18 mark in the video, Daron "Fatts" Russell talked about the selfless services that he provides off the bench in his limited (for now) role. Following the freshman's answer, E.C. Matthews made a comical reference to the fact that Dan Hurley calls the current team "old and stale" and how that equates to them being a wise and resilient team. At the end of the questions for the players, Matthews' message to URI's shots not falling at first was essentially the cliche that "shooters shoot".

Besides Dan Hurley's sentiments about his family and the March Madness moment that E.C. Matthews deserves, the head coach's central message was that URI survived and advanced, which is a renowned March Madness mantra.

About a URI Attendee

Hi, I attend URI basketball games religiously. I am also a pessimist. These 2 facts do not always mix cohesively. Read my articles to see why.
