Reviewing the 2017-2018 Rhody MBB Ingredients
The Rhode Island Rams had a large amount of success in the 2017-2018 season and there are specific reasons that enabled them to do so. Thus, I took some time to figure out what David Cox and his coaching staff will want to reorder from his team's ingredients and bring over to the 2018-2019 season.
Appetizers: (These are ingredients URI started many of their games with and maintained throughout each game)
Hustle
Grit
Determination
Aggression
Attentiveness
Entrees: (These were the main ingredients for URI winning games)
Stellar three-point defense
Fierce rebounding
Racking up blocks
Generating steals
Passing until an open shot is found
Strong drives to the hoop
Desserts: (These are the ingredients that helped URI to close games out)
Clutch shot-making ability
Clutch free-throw shooting
Leftovers: (URI will want to leave all of these ingredients in the past)
Inconsistent three-point shooting
Inconsistent and inaccurate free-throw shooting
Not getting to the free throw line enough
Falling in love with the jump shot
Fouling the opposition too much
Losing confidence mid-game
Being overconfident against inferior opposition
If I was Coach Cox, I would order all appetizers, entrees, and desserts from the menu. The menu is comprised of many good ingredients that can lead to success for this team for seasons to come.
