On August 17, 2018, shooting guard Jalen Lecque officially removed Rhode Island from the schools that he is considering and on August 19, 2018, small forward Yavuz Gultekin did the same. Additionally, shooting guard Dalvaun 'D.J.' Mitchell (class of 2018) committed to a different school on August 26, 2018. Furthermore, shooting guard Brandon Newman (class of 2019) removed Rhode Island from the list of schools that he is considering on September 4, 2018.
In some good news, Naheem McLeod and Marial Mading both scheduled official visits to URI during the month of September. In addition, Anthony Walker III put Rhode Island in the picture of the eight schools that he is moving forward with and Ray Somerville did the same with the list of his final six schools. Walker III is planning to visit the Kingston campus during the weekend of September 22, 2018.
