On the night of September 11, 2018, point guard Al-Amir Dawes eliminated Rhode Island from the list of schools that he was still considering. A huge recruiting target in the form of shooting guard Dahmir Bishop committed to Xavier on September 14, 2018. Many Rhode Island MBB fans were hoping for a reunion between Bishop and Fatts Russell in Kingston, RI but that will not be happening at this time.
Meanwhile, power forward Maxwell Lorca-Lloyd committed to Pennsylvania on September 15, 2018. Additionally, small forward Tyler Burton chose to go to Richmond, after having the University of Rhode Island in his final six and point guard Noah Fernandes went to Wichita State on the same night. In more bad news, shooting guard Brandon Newman committed to Purdue and Akok Akok, Kai Jones, Qudus Abolaji Wahab, and Michael Christmas all stopped considering attending Rhode Island.
Rhody MBB fans can look forward to a very intriguing stretch of time, as there is one available scholarship left (after the recent commitment of Marial Mading) and the Rams could still very well land Naheem Mcleod or Anthony Walker III. Greggory Hammond is scheduled to visit URI's main campus on October 4, 2018 and Ray Somerville will be taking an official visit to URI from October 19, 2018 to October 21, 2018.
