An Exhibition Game with Pace Can Be Something Great for Rhody MBB
The last time that Rhody MBB played Pace in a basketball game, the Rams outperformed their preseason expectations in the 2014-2015 season. In the season that Rhode Island last played Pace in the Ryan Center, Dan Hurley's team (at the time) was picked to finish sixth in the conference. By the end of the season, the Rams had a 13-5 conference record (tied with Dayton) and received the third seed at the 2015 Atlantic 10 tournament due to the head-to-head tiebreaker. So, I will be the one to ask all of the Rhode Island MBB fans, just how superstitious are you?
After their blowout win over Pace at the beginning of the 2014-2015 season, they landed their first win over a ranked win since 1998 when they upset #22 Nebraska in an unforgettable game that went into overtime. Additionally, freshmen Jared Terrell and Jarvis Garrett, as well as sophomores Hassan Martin and E.C. Matthews, blossomed rapidly in highly contested conference victories at Richmond and versus George Washington. Overall, playing Pace on October 25, 2018 serves as a great omen for the young and hungry men's basketball team from Kingston, RI.
Let's see what alumni Andre Berry thinks about this notion.
